    Philharmonie Berlin

I will always remember playing Brahms Violin Concerto for the first time with the New York Youth Symphony in Carnegie Hall. That was probably 2002! Can it be, 20 years ago? Wow. Gil Shaham played with us and I was enamored. Of course paired with Elgar's 2nd Symphony which as a friend recently described as "pleasing" - you're in for a treat if you can join!

Contact me if you're interested in reduced tickets (Steuerkarten).

Luckily, sub work with big orchestras is still "a thing" and I look forward to it whenever possible. Working with Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester and their chief conductor Robin Ticciati is a pleasure. I remember vividly hearing Bela Bartok's Bluebeard's Castle for the first time in Cleveland at Severance Hall. We may or may not have snuck into hall for the second half twice in one week - just in hear it a second time.

    Werner-Otto-Saal Konzerthaus Berlin

It's a challenge, but a motivating one to jump in with little notice for a project. I've been absorbed in the world and unique language of Arne Gieshoff's music and Arnold Schönberg's 5 Pieces for Orchestra. Glad to be performing with Ensemble United Berlin again!

    (January 1st, 2022 18:00)

    Tempodrom (Berlin)

Lucky to be joining the Deutsches-Symphonie Orchester Berlin in their "Silverster Programm". I remember when my Mom was visiting in Berlin over New Years one year and she kept asking me, "Who is Silverster?" Apparently, he was a Pope in the year 314, but for Germans, Silvester IS the 31st of December!

A fun coincidence that fellow New York Youth Symphony allum James Gaffigan will conducting the program.

  • GVL Stipend - "The Danger of a Single Story"

I am proud to announce I have been awarded a stipend from the GVL (the German music copyright collection). This stipend, inspired by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi's Ted Talk with the same name, will help fund my research, practice and programming of new solo cello works by female and BIOPIC composers. It has become a mission of mind to expand my solo cello repertoire mindfully, with conscious acknowledgement of the need to actively search for composers who may be, or have thus been, underrepresented in classical music.
